De LaMano's Great Magic Book
, published in 1877 by the N.Y. Popular Publishing Co., 32 Beekman Street, New York, New York. Cover image has bust of De LaMano in oval under his name. Lower half is a drawing of a magician on stage with two tables and his apparatus. The cover was letter press printed and then hand colored at the publishers. Book is filled with printed instructions, with illustrations, on such things as the Giant Egg Bag, Coin tricks, cutting the head off a chicken, Coin in the Ball of Wool, Cut and Restored string, etc.
The DeLaMano material was discovered in 1987 by Peter Monticup, the owner of MagicTricks.com, in a barn in upstate New York, which included many of his posters and these booklets.
This book was found still carefully wrapped in the original printer's invoice dated 1877.
