cabinet card’s
rounded corners, cream background,
single line margins,
and
silvery tint
dates to the
photography practices of
1880s - 1890s.
Hairstyle and fashion
of both girls
confirm this
time period as well.
Wood frame,
with board back insert,
is of the time period too.
However,
framing and stitching
could have occurred several years
after this photograph was taken.
It truly is a
one-of-a-kind piece
and wonderfully sweet.
What sisterhood!
So good to see.
One could only imagine
the moment of
receiving such a
thoughtful gift from their friend.
or being giddy with excitement
to be the one to create and give it!
Reverse was
re-papered several years ago, as
sawtooth wall mounts and satin ribbon hanger
were updated after acquiring.
Substantially crafted,
tipping the scales at
2¼  pounds.
This is a pre-owned piece, of antique age, and
will show
signs of
regular wear normal to its
careful and respected use and storage.
However, this framed needlepoint is well preserved and in
good condition.
Wood frame shows some
surface marking, scuffing,
and denting
along edges that is noticeable under close inspection
with bright white light.
Paper backing shows some wear and puncture.
Mounting hardware is intact and secure.
Clean and
in good order.
