Handsome fold-out 1953 Tide Water Associated Oil Company road map of Pennsylvania, printed more than 67 years ago.
This map opens to 18" x 26½" and has great detail on old highway alignments, with cartography by H.M. Gousha. There are inset plans of Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.
The map was distributed by the Tide Water Associated Oil Company in 1953 to promote its Tydol Flying A gasoline and Veedol motor oil. It is dated by the code number in the lower margin: 10-AA.
The back cover shows a Tydol Flying A service station sign and the company's "Everything Good For Your Car" slogan.
The front cover has illustrations of historical landmarks, including Fort Necessity, Independence Hall, Valley Forge, Gettysburg, and the Betsy Ross House, with the name of the state printed in red.
Condition:
The map is in very good, lightly used condition, bright and clean, with
