Here is a 1940 road map of New York with a Historical Guide presented by the Tide Water Associated Oil Company (Tydol). The map shows super-highways, paved roads, improved roads, graded roads, and dirt roads. Some famous landmarks are indicated on the maps such as Fort Niagara, Caroline Church Lefferts House, Montauk Point Light, Raynham Hall, Sunnyside, St. Paul's Chapel, and more. Illustrations are given for each of these points of interest. This map appears to never have been used.
